2015 Alpine Challenge – 100 mile

Saturday 28th November 2015

The Alpine Challenge is located in the Victorian alps and was Kathryn’s first 100 mile ultra trail run. Find out more about the challenge here  at the Running Wild website.

Although this was Kathryn’s first 100 miler, The Ultra 168 community have been keeping an eye on our Kathryn and had predicted her finishing and being on the podium!

She definitely did not disappoint! Kathryn came over the finish line as first female in just under 35 hours. The official results are yet to be posted but you can check them out here – Alpine Challenge Results

Kathryn’s personal race report is still to come, but in the meantime we all think she is amazing! (From just some of her friends and family):

Well done our amazing daughter. So proud of your brilliant efforts. Congratulations love you heaps Mum and Dad xox

You. Are. Incredible. I could write a million words saying how amazing your efforts are over the last 35 hours but all you need to know is that you’re an inspiration to everyone you meet and see, you’re super driven and a motivation daily to everyone including myself. Changing the world through what you do and who you are. X Amelia

This is the girl who I was meant to crew and run with down at Alpine over the weekend. She had an amazing substitute in Sharon and I couldn’t be happier right now. Kathryn Austin has trained her arse off for this race. We would have chats a few times a week “I’m buggered but I have to keep to Greg’s plan” etc. So focused going into her first miler. She had some ups and downs but, toughed it out and friggen WON the female race. I have tears of happiness right now as I am incredible proud of her and I am so glad we are such great friends. She is too damn humble to brag about her win but, that’s where I come in as she knows I would do it for her. What a team – phil, Sharon and Kathryn. Well done crew, you did an amazing job and thank you for keeping me updated along the way. Kathryn Austin – you rock my world and I love you so much. Under 35hrs and way ahead of schedule!!! xxxxxx Katherine

Congratulations Kathryn!!!! What an awesome accomplishment!!! You are amazing! Well done Sharon and Phil for having that chair ready for her among a few other things!!! Cherri
